In and Out the Wrestling Ring with BigBoyFloyd.

This weeks profile is on one of the greatest in the 1980's and 90's....."Ohhh yeah!"

"Macho Man" Randy Savage was born Randall Mario Poffo on November 15, 1952. Before breaking into wrestling in 1973, he was a minor league baseball catcher for a few years.

Savage is best known for his 10 year stay from 1985 to 1994 in the WWF where he had legendary feuds with among others, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Tito Santana, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, George "The Animal" Steele, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Andre the Giant, and of course Hulk Hogan.

Savage reached the pinnacle of his career to date at Wrestlemania 4, when he participated in the 14 man tournement for the vacant WWF Championship. He had successful matches against Butch Reed, Greg Valentine and One Man Gang, and then went on to the finals, in which he defeated "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, by pinning him with the help of Hulk Hogan. Savage would retain the WWF title for over a year, defending it against the likes of One Man Gang and André the Giant. Savage would set a new trend, as during his face turn he would retain many fans who cheered for him as a heel.

After leaving the WWF in 1994 to jump ship to WCW, Savage would continue to wrestle as a top star up until he retired in 1999. Wrestling was definately in his blood as his father was a famous wrestler back in the 50's and 60's, his brother was known in the WWF as "The Genius" Lanny Poffo, and Savage was married in real life for many years to his manager, the late Miss Elizabeth.

Savage is a six-time world wrestling champion, with four WCW title reigns and two WWF title reigns. In WWF, he was a two-time WWF Champion, a one-time Intercontinental Champion, and the winner of the 1987 King of the Ring tournament. In WCW, he was a four-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and winner of the 1995 World War 3 battle royal. A WWE DVD documentary of Savage is scheduled for a June 9, 2009 release according to PWInsider.
