XBOX360 buyers beware!

For all my fellow XBOX360 owners you may know of the "Red ring of death" which is a hardware problem associated with the first batch of 360's released from Microsoft. The symptoms included the system freezing up followed by a red ring that went around the Xbox's power button. When Microsoft found out about this they issued a 3 year extended warranty for anyone who bought the first generation of Xbox systems.

Since then Microsoft has gone through an upgraded redesign of the 360 so that the Red ring would not be an issue anymore, but now there is talk of a new problem for the new generation of Xbox's. There has been an increased number of complaints that owners of the new Xbox are recieving the "E 74 error". This error is characterized by a black screen with a E 74 message in the middle of the screen. Early reports are saying that this error is due to a video hardware problems in the system and as of now Microsoft does not cover this in the exteded warranty given to the Red ring (WTF?).

So all you recent or potential buyers watch your system and if you see anything out of the ordinary make sure to give Xbox customer service a call to ensure that Microsoft covers its consumers.

Play BALL! PS3 style

Spring is around the corner and the means baseball is coming right behind it. To the video gamers in the world that means another batch of baseball games trying to outshine each other. Well this spring "MLB 09: The Show" should shine brightly for the PS3. The graphics are so sharp and clear, if you didn't know it was a video game, you may think it was a real game on. The game play is also feeling pretty good, as you fight through tough pitches at bat to stay alive, fight for a strikes on every pitch and it takes patience and smarts to smack one out of the park for a home run. You can start from the season opener all the way to the World Series! So all you baseball purists strap on your cleats and head to the story and get MLB 09: The Show today!

Old school with a new twist!!!

I know ya'll remember when the classic video game "Street Fighter II" hit the streets and the long lines and many quarters spent trying to learn moves and prove you were the best (those were the days).

Well say hello to the reincarnate: "Street Fighter IV" for the XBOX 360 and PS3. The game which premiered last week is getting rave reviews (got a 9.0 from gamespot.com) looks to be fun as hell. Of course the graphics and colors look 100 times better and the action as always is non stop. Another great feature is the ability to play your boys online. You can kick azz and talk trash to anyone in the world all on the comfort of your couch. You can earn up to 25 characters (including the old cast) in this game which is accomplished by beating the game with different fighters. With new moves combos and characters this is a must buy for any hard core gamers who love fighting or even the OG who remembers and loves the original. So get out and cop Street Figher 4 in stores now.

#1 With A Bullet

Wii Sports, thought by skeptics to be merely a gimmick to show off the capabilities of the Wiimote, is now the top-selling video game of all time, according to VGChartz.

Like the former record holder Super Mario Bros, Wii Sports owes much of its sales success to bundling, as it shipped with nearly every Nintendo Wii sold (except in Japan and South Korea). To date, the game has sold 40.24 million units, while the Wii itself has sold upwards of 45 million units.

But can a bundled game be considered the "best-selling" game of all time?
VGZChartz, Jan. 3: The point of view taken by VGChartz is that:

1. The bundling of Wii Sports with the Wii console is integral to the success of the Wii console - Wii Sports adds value to the package and isn't "given away" with the console. It is purchased alongside the console.

2. The game isn't bundled in Japan and has managed to sell at a 45% attach rate with the Wii console showing that many Wii owners in Japan bought a Wii for Wii Sports.

3. Bundle sales of all other games are counted. Super Mario Bros wouldn't have sold 40 million as a stand-alone title but who can say how many it would have sold - maybe 20 million, maybe 25 million. Same is true of Wii Sports, Tetris, Duck Hunt, Super Mario World and most of the other titles on the best seller list. Sure, the act of bundling the game with the console will serve to increase its sales but to totally remove the game because of the fact it has been bundled is not right either. It is totally conceivable that as a stand-alone title Wii Sports would have sold well over 20 million units by now given the attach rate seen in Japan and also seen with both Wii Play and Wii Fit in the west. So to remove the title also seems totally unfair - especially given point 1.
While I understand the above justification, it's clear that bundling the game at launch led to a buzz that the game would not have received otherwise.
