A jury awarded nearly $7 million to a 56-year-old woman who said she was unknowingly infected with herpes by the 77-year-old founder of a hair-care company. The lawsuit alleged that Thomas Redmond knew he had genital herpes for more than 25 years but did not disclose it before his sexual relationship began with Patricia Behr, and did not use a condom. The Riverside County jury awarded Behr $4 million in compensatory damages and $2.75 million in punitive damages. She was also awarded a 2004 BMW car that Redmond had originally given her as a gift. Redmond is the founder of Redmond Products Inc., which was the maker of the Aussie line of hair-care products. The company now belongs to Procter & Gamble Co. The defendant’s lawyer, Robert M. Frisbee, said the verdict is “outrageous” and his client will seek to have it overturned.

Los Alamitos Mayor Dean Grose has stepped down as Mayor of Los Alamitos, CA after sending out this fake photo of watermelons on President Barack Obama’s White House front lawn. Grose’s email included the heading, “No Easter Egg hunt this year.” “I think he’s saying that since there’s a black president, there will be no need to hunt for eggs since they’re growing watermelons in the front yard this year,” said Keyanus Price, an African American who was among those receiving the email. Price told Fletcher that she considers the email rascist and offensive. “What I’m concerned about is how can this person send an e-mail out like this and think it is OK?” Price said. “He’s putting the city into a bad place and he is a liability.” Grose apologized to Price, city council members and others. “It was just poor judgment on my part and I am deeply sorry,” he said.

A man from President Obama's hometown of Chicago has been arrested for allegedly sending Obama and his staff envelopes containing HIV-infected blood, in the hopes of killing or harming them … In the weeks leading up to Obama's inauguration, Saad Hussein, an Ethiopian refugee in his late 20's, sent an envelope addressed to "Barack Obama" to offices of the Illinois government in Springfield, Ill. The envelope contained a series of unusual items, including a letter with reddish stains and an admission ticket for Obama's election-night celebration in Chicago's Grant Park. Court documents said Hussein, who takes drugs to treat a mental illness, later told FBI agents he is "very sick with HIV" and cut his fingers with a razor so he could bleed on the letter.

Health Alert: 10 ways to save your heart!
Whether you are in your 20's, 30's or 40's your health is an issue you must start to deal with. Like it or not your moms, girl friend or wifey, will bug you until you go get that supposed annual doctor's check up. So instead of waiting until the last minute check out these simple tips from MensHealth that will keep the old ticker in good health for years to come.
1. Grill a steak. You may think it's bad for your heart, but you'd be wrong. Beef contains immunity-boosting selenium as well as homocysteine-lowering B vitamins. And up to 50 percent of the fat is the heart-healthy monounsaturated variety.
2. Watch a scary movie. Anything that causes your heart to race—slasher flicks, a good book, even being in love—also makes your heart stronger, according to researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Upsetting the rhythm once in a while is like hitting your heart's reset button, which helps it keep on ticking.
3. Run indoors on hazy days. Researchers in Finland found that exercising outside on hot, hazy days when air pollution is at its worst can cut the supply of oxygen in the blood, making it more likely to clot.
4. Tell your wife to butt out. Or you may leave her—in a hearse. Researchers in Greece found that individuals who were exposed to cigarette smoke for just 30 minutes three times a week had a 26 percent greater risk of developing heart disease than people who rarely encountered secondhand smoke.
5. Dive in the pool. U.K. researchers found that men who burn just 50 calories a day in strenuous activities like swimming and hiking are 62 percent less likely to die of heart disease than men who burn nearly seven times as many calories — 340 per day — during less active pursuits like walking and golfing.
6. Fight cholesterol with fat. A group of 17 Australian men with high cholesterol swapped macadamia nuts for 15 percent of the calories in their diets, and their total cholesterol dropped by between 3 and 5 percent, while their HDL (good) cholesterol rose by nearly 8 percent. The reason: Macadamias are the best natural source of monounsaturated fat.
7. Bike away the blues. Men who are suffering from depression are more than twice as likely to develop heart disease as guys who aren't depressed. So c'mon, get happy. In a trial of 150 men and women, Duke researchers found that after just 3 months of treatment, antidepressants and exercise were equally effective at relieving almost all symptoms of depression.
8. Meditate 20 minutes a day. According to Thomas Jefferson University researchers, this daily downtime may reduce your anxiety and depression by more than 25 percent. And that's important, since a University of Florida study found that patients with coronary artery disease who had the most mental stress were three times more likely to die during the period of the study than those with the least stress.
9. Buy a punching bag. A Harvard study found that men who express their anger have half the risk of heart disease compared with men who internalize it.
10. Take aspirin. Researchers at the University of North Carolina found that regular aspirin consumption cut the risk of coronary heart disease by 28 percent in people who had never had a heart attack or stroke, but were at heightened risk. For maximum impact on your blood pressure, take a low dose just before bed.

Chris Breezy Dropped from Movie Promos
Radio stations, the Got Milk? campaign and Wrigley’s Gum aren’t the only ones washing their hands of Chris Brown. Woooha.com reports Sony Screen Gems will “erase” Brown’s performance from the promotion of the upcoming film Bone Deep. Also starring T.I., Brown was to be the centerpiece of the film’s promotion in the urban market, appearing in commercials and movie posters. Instead, following Brown’s alleged assault of girlfriend Rihanna, producers will focus marketing around T.I., who may still be in prison when the film is released in January, 2010. Brown’s role in the film itself will not be reduced.According to IMDb, Brown has starring roles in other two other films in the pre-production/in-production stages: Caramel and Phenom. The director of Caramel recently told Life & Style “Chris’s current situation hasn’t had any effect on things in terms of the film. We’re still planning on working with him.” In the end, it’s the producers’ decision, and it’s hard to imagine anyone funding a film starring an actor who may single-handedly cripple the film’s success.
In an effort to make himself look better in the court of public opinion, Brown reportedly began taking anger management classes Monday, February 23rd, in Glendale, California. “Chris doesn’t actually have to go by law,” an insider tells New York Daily News’ Gatecrasher, “but he believes it will make him look better to the public, and he wants to try to get in a few classes before March 5,” his court date. While reports say the court date might be pushed back, Rihanna is expected to testify.

Phoenix’s Fox 10 news reports that X has attacked a Sheriff’s detention officer while on lockdown in Arizona’s Tent City prison facility, and may now face felony aggravated assault charges. If authorities decide to take action, the Yonkers MC could face up to 8 years behind bars.X was put on 23-hour-a-day lockdown on February 8th after a separate incident with Maricopa County officers.
The former Ruff Ryders front man is currently serving a 90-day sentence for drug, theft and animal cruelty charges.

Bobby Jindel, Governor of Louisiana, who made the Republican response to President Obama's speech last night for Congress was a damn joke. Are we supposed to just forget about the hundreds of black folks that drowned or heck just last week Lil Wayne singing with Robin Thicke "TIE MY HANDS" at the Grammy's to shed more light on what is still not happening in the NO. The Gov. Boddy Jindel want America to believe that while in office he was the reason for the new found success in New Orleans, La. Hell in the NO yesterday right before this speech took place Six people - including a baby - was hurt after a shooting incident at the New Orleans Mardi Gras in the US. Police lining the parade route on historic St Charles Avenue heard the shots among the crowd at about 1340 local time. And we are supposed to listen to this dude who doesn't even have a hold on his own state.
More than half of your state still lives in trailers right outside of their real homes. Half of the city is still without power. If this is what the Republicans have in store with representation of their party for the future I am sure glad we voted Democrat.

A Manhattan judge shot down rapper Lil’ Wayne’s bid to toss a gun case lodged against him - and instead set a trial date. Defense lawyer Stacey Richman tried to quash the July 2007 arrest, claiming a cop lied about smelling marijuana wafting out of the Grammy winner’s tour bus and used it as an excuse to board. “The motion is denied,” Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon told the 26-year-old star, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, in court on Tuesday. The hugely popular “Lollipop” singer sat in the courtroom in a black leather jacket, blue jeans and black-rimmed glasses as giddy fans whispered about asking for his autograph. The cop testified at a hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court last fall that after she smelled pot coming from the bus on the upper West Side, she boarded and found a loaded, 9-mm. handgun in the singer’s Louis Vuitton bag. Richman argued the cop was several blocks away, helping another officer arrest rapper Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, also on gun charges. The hip-hop artists were busted after a Lil’ Wayne & Friends concert at Broadway’s Beacon Theater. Authorities have said the two busts were an hour apart. The judge set a trial date of April 20, but not before all sides skirmished over conflicts with the star’s upcoming tour schedule. “I’m not psychic, nor is Mr. Carter,” Richman said of Carter’s professional commitments beyond April 12, when his tour ends. Richman asked for time “to consult with the booker.” The judge refused. “I’m not going to take a backseat here,” Solomon said before setting a trial date. Carter faces felony weapons charges and up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
These charges should surely be dropped to a lesser charge where he might take a plea deal. CAN YOU SAY PROBATION!!!

Top 5 Annual Outdoor Events in the DMV

DLR Likes to get out and about around town. If you are new to the area or just dont get out that much let this be your guide to whats going down in the DMV. Most of the events are free, and the entertainment is great!
1.) Howard Homecoming- One of the premier annual events in the fall on the east coast. Granted many will argue the late night parties are where its at during this event, where up and coming artists along side established veterans in the game can be seen out on the town enjoying the festivities as well as hitting the stage and performing their latest hits. You can enjoy yourself at Howard Homecoming around campus before and after the game....You definitely will encounter future DLR furniture saleswomen at this event.
2.) Stone Soul Picnic- This event held in RFK parking lot (former home of the mighty mighty Redskins) always has great acts, you can usually expect Chuck Brown to be in the spot...This free event attracts young and old alike. Great for the family and of course the eye candy is plentiful.
3.) Unifest- Held in the heart of Anacostia is also a free event, good acts. Think I saw BYB one year, generally Unifest will have an up and coming band which is always good too. And the SE ass is all over the place Good LAWD! (Sorry ladies but this will be a recurring theme).
4.) Georgia Ave Day- How could it be so free? More of a parade than anything, which is cool if you like that sort of thing. GA ave day usually has bands at Banneker, marred by violence some years ago, I still would have no problem attending. You will Definitely encounter future candidates to be featured in the Red Beans and Rice Pic of the week.
5.) SKINS/COWGIRLS Tailgating- Especially if its a Primetime game. Although I can't stand them Cowgirl fans, its still a good time to get with all the other Skins fans and re-live the glory years (Geez!).......Come on Skins!

The lawyer basically said this case involves to much money and William Balfour broke azz can't afford the legal fees associated with handling this case. What's funny is the Lawyers said they think he is innocent.. WTF!!! If you ask me I would check out the sister... Her wack azz is a little shaddy when it comes to this case. She was the only person happy that her brother was gone.. WOW!!!
