Under Center w/ Maly-Mal

The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat we’re abound, as week 2 of the NFL season overflowed with late heroics and barnburner matchups. I think the Philadelphia Eagles performance gave some validity to why I was the only power ranking poll in America that had them in the top 5. In the words of Tony Kornheiser, “it’s fair to say, we’re watching the two best teams in football, tonight”, which is why the Dallas Cowboys are hands down the top team in the league, right now, and #1 in my power rankings. However, Philly is not #2 in my poll. They’ve fallen to #4, and for good reason. The Eagles had the game in their hands and driving to put the nail in the coffin, until McNabb did his double pump handoff and caused what turned out to be a costly turnover. Something I just don’t see the New England Patriots or New York Giants doing. Here’s how I see the shakedown of the powers that be in the NFL, after week 2:

1) Dallas Cowboys – The only team in the NFL yet to allow a sack. BIG!

2) New York Giants – The champs are 2-0. Must give respect where respect is due.

3) New England Patriots – No Brady, no problem. 21 regular season wins in a row.

4) Philadelphia Eagles – Can bounce right back with a win against Pittsburgh.

5) Pittsburgh Steelers – Want to show they’re real contenders this week.

6) Denver Broncos – Controversial call or not, a win is a win.

7) Green Bay Packers – I’m still not sold on this team, but, so far so good.

8) Indianapolis Colts – O-line got it together just in time for Manning Magic.

9) Carolina Panthers – Keep finding a way to win.

10) Buffalo Bills – Nice running game. Great defense. Will it last?

11) Arizona Cardinals – The Cardinals are 2-0, with the Redskins on the horizon.

12) San Diego Chargers – I told you this team will never win with Norv Turner.

13) New Orleans Saints – Beat the Bucs, then lose to the Redskins? Go figure.

14) New York Jets – I too am guilty of drinking too much of this Kool-Aid.

15) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jeff Garcia’s still upset over the Brett Favre fiasco.

16) Jacksonville Jaguars – 0-2 is not the start the Jags expected.

17) Tennessee Titans – Jeff Fisher is showing why he’s gaining H.O.F. accolades.

18) Chicago Bears - Kyle Orton’s playing well. Just couldn’t finish off Carolina.

19) San Francisco 49ers – Big win against the Seahawks.

20) Seattle Seahawks – Another team that didn’t expect to be 0-2.

21) Baltimore Ravens – Didn’t play due to Hurricane Ike

22) Houston Texans – Didn’t play due to Hurricane Ike

23) Washington Redskins – The game winning bomb to Santana Moss was sweet.

24) Minnesota Vikings – Tarvaris Jackson’s no (healthy) Culpepper!

25) Atlanta Falcons – Young, but, competitive.

26) Cleveland Browns – OVERRATED… Believe me now?

27) Detroit Lions – Down by 21 early. Took the lead. Lost by 18. Sad!

28) Miami Dolphins – Can’t expect much. Not showing much.

29) Cincinnati Bengals – “Who dey?”

30) Oakland Raiders – Showed they’re not the worst of the worst after beating K.C.

31) St. Louis Rams – Counting their blessings that they aren’t in the NFC East.

32) Kansas City Chiefs – Now L.J.’s upset. The wheels are falling off already.
